We had a nice day strolling about Ponta Delgada in the Azores. It's a very pretty, clean town - much better than Nassau - the people were very friendly, and our lack of Portuguese fluency was a source of more amusement than problems. We visited the local cemetery and bought pastries at a bakery we found along a little side street. The streets are mostly cobblestone and very narrow. No 1-ton dooley trucks here! It rained hard for a bit, and one lady told us we were wise to bring our "water jackets."

After several days of 15 foot seas, things are calmer. The ship goes well through the waves, but walking and playing shuffleboard were challenging on the rolling decks.
