Janene let me take the bus to Neuschwanstein Castle this morning instead of walking, but then we climbed probably 500 feet of rise on the path to the castle and 300+ steps inside. The day was perfect and the castle was good, although only a few rooms were actually finished and furnished, since Ludwig II died (was murdered?) before he could get everything finished, and all work apparently stopped when he did. Still, it was a fun day.

Before we went in for our tour, I took pictures of a lot of different people with their cameras so they could all be in the shot. One Japanese group was so impressed with my work that they insisted that we pose with them for a picture. And so, the tourist becomes the attraction.

We took the long way back via the Marienbrücke Bridge and down through the nearby Pöllat Gorge Schwangau and had lunch on a rock in the creek. The gorge walk beat the castle tour, in our opinion, although they are both probably must-do items.

After a brief break at the Happy Sleep, we went walking this afternoon through the Botanic Garden, along the river, and around town in general. We had supper at a sidewalk café and got back to the Happy Sleep about 2000 hrs to catch up on email, etc. We leave Füssen in the morning for the Augsburg area.
