Frutigen to Travers

It was cloudy and cool this morning after overnight showers. Switzerland uses a unique electric outlet system, so I went foraging for an adapter in order to be able to charge our laptop, GPS, and camera. Between breakfast and departure, we had a short walkabout around town.

Our first stop was Brig, where we made an instant connection for Lausanne, just looking for somewhere cool and cheap to spend the night. The hotel situation was nearly as bad in Lausanne as in Interlaken, so we moved on to Cossonay, then Yverdon, then Neuch&acaron;tel. All were hot and expensive, so we decided to head away from the lakes and mountains and seek out another small town.

On a whim, we got off the train in the village of Travers and stayed in a nice B&B on a cool hillside with a very pretty view of the surrounding farm land. Of course, it was up a steep hill from the station, but we should be used to that by now. We walked back into town and had an expensive yet tasty dinner at the local restaurant. As I type, Janene is watching NCIS in French – literally the best thing she can find on TV.
