A final check of email verified that our plans for the BritRail pass were in place, so we placed the order. We'll keep our fingers crossed until we actually hold the passes in our hands. We checked out of the Paris condo and took the Metro to the train station, where we headed for Cherbourg, France.

A ticket agent at the Cherbourg train station directed us to the ferry terminal where we planned to make reservations for sailing to Ireland on Monday. After we hiked the two miles to the terminal, we learned that they are closed on Saturday. We did manage to ride a bus back to the train station. I guess the staff there felt sorry for us regarding the ferry, because they offered to store our bags while we sought internet access. McDonald's had a wifi hotspot and we booked the ferry – we hope.

Back on the train, we moved to Caen and checked in at the first hotel we looked at. When we checked email, we learned that our credit card company had panicked when our BritRail passes came through, so I had to call Capital One's office in Costa Rico and assure them that all was well. We hope this won't mess up the timing with the Dublin hostel. We had a look around town before calling it a night.
