21 August
Along the route yesterday, we saw notices for the Gargrave Agricultural Show, which was held today. After checking with the local Tourist Information Center and securing lodging for Sunday and Monday nights, we walked to the adjoining village of Giggleswick to catch the train to Gargrave. We saw cattle, horse, and dog shows, some show jumping, a tug of war contest, falcon demonstrations, and antique car and tractor shows. The weather was much improved, with some heavy clouds, but no rain.
By the time we walked back to the hotel from the Giggleswick station, we were both knackered, but a brief lie-down put us right and we ventured out in search of supper and internet access. There's something amiss with the hotel's Wi-Fi system, so we went to a nearby pub to check in with the rest of the world, but the pub was packed and had quit serving food for the day. We stopped at the Chinese takeaway and the fish shop and had supper in our room.
