SCENE ONE

EXT. ABANDONED CLOISTER, FRANCE – EVENING

[An ancient stone building, surrounded by grassy fields. It has seen better days, but is far from a ruin and looks almost enchanted on this quiet evening.]

JOHN - It's very beautiful.

REBECCA - It always was. And peaceful.

JOHN - Don't tell me . . . I should have seen it a few centuries ago.

REBECCA - Okay, I won't. [beat] But you should have.

[She punches his shoulder playfully, then puts her arm in his and they stroll the grassy grounds.]

JOHN - I remember when we first came here. You were the older woman.

REBECCA - I still am.

SCENE TWO

 
REBECCA - [with a lascivious smile] Too old for what?

SCENE THREE

 
REBECCA - [avoiding the conversation] I thought you were John.

SCENE FOUR

 
REBECCA - And tonight you can show me just how young you are.

SCENE FIVE

 
REBECCA - I love you, John

LUTHER - How touching.

JOHN - If you love me, kill him. [beat] All I lose is a few years . . . you lose eternity.

SCENE SIX

 
LUTHER - Pain is how you see with clarity . . . [beat] Pain gets you what you want. [Luther raises the hot rock up and holds it, unflinching, locking eyes with them.] Any more questions?

[Raynaud and Leon shake their heads and quickly leave.]

SCENE SEVEN

This flashback doesn't occur until much later in the Shooting Script, immediately before the 853 A.D. flashback.
Also, the Shooting Script has Rebecca's cloister in France, but the street-waif Amanda definitely has an English accent.

SCENE NINE

 
MacLEOD - One of us . . . Maybe whoever killed Rebecca. [beat] It's gone now.

AMANDA - You would say that.

SCENE ELEVEN

 
AMANDA - Very nice. Eighteen stones, about twenty-eight carats total weight, quality somewhere between VS and VS-1.

MacLEOD - [dry] And there's never a taxi when you need one.

SCENE THIRTEEN

 
ALICE - Is this to do with the insurance? I don't think it's worth very much.

SCENE FOURTEEN

 
MacLEOD - Maybe not to you, but there are other people who want it.

[Then MacLeod and Amanda get the BUZZ. They exchange looks.]

MacLEOD - Stay here. [He moves off.]

AMANDA - [under her breath] Like hell.

SCENE FIFTEEN

EXT. ANTIQUE STORE – DAY

[As MacLeod and Amanda return, Paul is being helped up by two passers-by, his head bleeding slightly.]

PAUL - They took the crystal . . .

[MacLeod sees Raynaud and Leon racing away. They reach the corner and go different ways. MacLeod and Amanda split up and give chase.]

PAUL - [calls after them] If you get them, KEEP the damn thing!

SCENE SIXTEEN

 
MAURICE - One time we were staying at a small inn near Lyons. It took us three days to make up.

SCENE SEVENTEEN

 
AMANDA - So you're an expert.

MAURICE - When you've been around as long as I have, seen the things I've seen, the stories I could tell, but unfortunately I'm a very private man. I don't reveal myself to everyone.

AMANDA - [tongue in cheek] But for me you'll make an exception.

MAURICE - Only because you insist.

SCENE EIGHTEEN

 
MacLEOD - Maurice, thanks for keeping an eye on her for me.

MAURICE - [eyeing Amanda] It wasn't very hard, my friend. [He leaves.]
